Tegrity Campus 2.0 New Features Added |
SANTA CLARA, CA - June 2, 2009 - Tegrity, provider of the leading class capture Web service for higher education, announced today that it will introduce a host of exciting advancements to its award-winning Tegrity Campus Web service, the only solution focused on scalability and student achievement. As a Web service and the only campus-wide solution that is fully integrated with instruction datasets (e.g., user rosters and course enrollments), this update continues to drive maximum student success while minimizing cost of ownership.
"With Tegrity Campus, institutions provide every student with a resource they and their families can immediately appreciate," said Isaac Segal, president and CEO of Tegrity. "This requires minimal effort on the part of the institution."
New Tegrity Bookmarks help students review classes efficiently
Continuing Tegrity's focus on improving student workflow, Tegrity Bookmarks enable students to "set" bookmarks during class by clicking a single key on their iPods, iPhones, browser-enabled cell phones or regular browsers. Students can set bookmarks to denote "action items" for later review, referencing specific points they didn't understand or information that seemed critical for a test. Later, when reviewing classes with Tegrity Campus, the student can easily navigate to these bookmarks, check them off after review, and set new ones.
Instructors can also set bookmarks to highlight key points for the entire class, for example, to flag items to be tested. By setting public bookmarks, students and instructors can collaborate around the content, creating a content (class)-centric discussion board.
Native iPhone application
For the first time, Tegrity Campus will now include a native iPod Touch/iPhone application for students. Students will be able to create bookmarks using this application and later this year, they will be able to access the class repository and quickly navigate and search their classes in native mode.
Ability to send questions to the professor
Students can easily flag and email a specific point in a lecture (and an associated question) to their professor or fellow student. The recipient simply clicks the attached link to start the playback at that point.
Improved student recording workflow
Not only can students record with Tegrity, but the instructor controls whether student recordings can be viewed by the professor alone, the entire class, or only a portion of the class. This degree of personalization is only possible with Tegrity dataset integration.
New features optimize scalability and cost of ownership
Also included in the latest Tegrity update is a tighter and more customizable integration with an institution's datasets and single-sign-on processes along with: powerful new reports, a new support wizard for students, additional policy and security controls, strong Mac support and more, all designed to minimize support needs while providing greater control over campus-wide deployments.
Ability to share a class recording with fellow instructors
Instructors can easily post a class recording to the appropriate Tegrity user forum, fostering collaboration between instructors within their institution or across all Tegrity customer institutions.
Enhanced recording format
Tegrity has added a new recording format (VC-1) that delivers the best quality in the industry. In addition, the July update provides full support for Internet Explorer 8 and robust Mac support both for recording and for replay, and support for high resolution (HD) video even when recording simultaneous multiple video streams.
